I created Period Poverty Project to educate the public about period poverty and how it affects girls and more specifically, their educations. Period poverty is defined as the lack of access to necessary menstrual products, such as pads and tampons. Lack of access to such products can affect one's ability to attend school during their periods, therefore restricting their ability to receive a full education. I chose to design a poster and stickers since these mediums can be posted in a variety of environments, allowing a lot of people to see them. Posters and stickers are also easy to hand out to people in public spaces. To make the designs relatable to school-aged girls, I used primary colors and a handwritten storybook font to give the designs an elementary school look. These elements show how period poverty affects many girls, even those of elementary age.
